How I Won the NYC Affordable Housing Lottery THREE times (Part III) –As told to Nathali by Fatima
English: Last time I explained how the income affects your eligibility to win. So you get called for an interview, now what?

(Photo credit: Wikipedia)you are coming to prove that you are hardworking and you can afford an apartment, but not enough to live in a luxury apartment. You have to bring documents like your bank statements. You want to show them you have money, not that you have millions, but that you have savings. This way you can show them that you don’t spend every dollar that comes your way. The city creates these programs because they want to give lower income families the opportunity to live in these luxury buildings. Unfortunately many of the building managements are not to happy about this. Since they have to participate in these programs they want to select the best candidates from those that come to apply. They are looking for people who have a job, have money saved and can continue to pay rent if they win. Once your application is accepted they will schedule an inspection of your current living conditions. They do this to ensure that as their tenant you can maintain a clean and organized home. They especially check for any damage to the apartments because they do not want that to occur in their building.
Once this inspection has been passed you will now be the proud owner of a NYC Housing apartment. Once you receive the apartment you cannot be evicted from it, even if your income increases. When you pass away this apartment automatically goes to your children.
So how did I win 3 times? I was persistent! I sent out over 200 postcards. Since I wanted to live only in Manhattan I only filled out applications to the buildings in the city. If you aren’t as picky as I was you can win even more times than I did if your broaden your application submittal.

Uwazam ze na Interwiev należy ubrać się schludnie i czysto (byliśmy 2 razy i przebiegalo to zawsze tak samo). Należy przynieść wszystkie wymagane dokumenty aby udowonic to ze zarabiasz wymagane pieniądze wyciągi z banku potwierdzające ze oszczędzasz i masz staly dochod ale nie posiadasz milionow, zaświadczenie od obecnego lendlorta ze swiadczace o tym ze płacisz na czas rent. Czasem maja pytania dotyczące twojej sytuacji majątkowej, jeśli pomyślnie przejdziesz interview to następnym krokiem jest WIZYTA W TWOIM DOMU.
Zapowiadaja kiedy do ciebie przyjdą . Po co przychodzą? Chcą się upewnić ze nie jesteś wandalem ze mieszkasz pod tym adresem nie jesteś jego wlascicielem i przede wszystkim nie jesteś jakims wandalem. Czyli nie zniszczysz przydzielonego ci od miasta apartamentu często w nowym luksusowym budynku. Nie może być takich sytuacji ze sobie bezprawnie palisz ognisko w pokoju, lub masz rozbite sciany bo tak lubisz.
Jeśli ten ostatni krok przejdziesz jesteś praktycznie szczęśliwym posiadaczem czterech scian!
Chce tylko jeszcze raz nadmienić ze wyslalismy 200 kartek wylosowaliśmy 3 razy apartamenty na Manhattanie bo TYLKO tam składaliśmy aplikacje, co chce przez to powiedzieć Szanse sa ogromne szczególnie jeśli będziecie skladac nie tylko na Manhattan ale i inne dzielnice.
Dlaczego nie przeszliśmy INTERVIEW? Inne dużo ostrzejsze sa prawa i przeliczniki dla osob posiadających swój biznes. Chca się upewnić ze wlasciwe osoby dostana te apartamenty czyli takie które naprawdę zarabiają w granicach przez nich podanych.
